About

I started shortly after winning 3rd place in an all school book cover contest at Buntingthorp Air Force Base, England. That was my first work publicized, base newspaper, picture and all. I don’t think I have a copy of that picture anywhere but I still have my prize…a How to Draw book with inscription!  That was my first taste, besides mom & dad, of public approval for my efforts. From then on ART has never been too far from my life. Classes in college/Art major, free-lance for City of Topeka, side line at several factories (came in very handy) I worked in during my business career, and occasionally sharing the joy with my wife and 4 children as they grew up.  But until 3 years ago I really didn’t pursue what I could do with my talent to create finished pieces. To think I got started again by doing shoes and 15 pairs later I was back covering blank rectangles with my ideas/visions. Since then I’ve had the pleasure of showing at a local art fair with my son, got into my first gallery, and will have my first show/display soon.

As for my style…at present it is brite rich colors with a lean towards  organic (maybe whimsy at times) and abstract in nature.   I was the kid that had to have that box of 72 crayons and anything else that caught my eye when it came to applying color.  The list of artist that influenced myself to be fair is quite long, I would have to list a couple of dozen. . . even in that list it would seem very eclectic.  If my style  seems very controlled at times I owe that … did I mention I have a A.S. in Architecture?  Architecture was so black & white, and my early art teachers in college had us only working with limited color pallets.  I think that is why I love color so much, it makes the creating process using rich colors so enjoyable…to the point I am always adding/buying a new paint, marker, or pencil when they catch my eye!  Some of my pieces do have  a deeper meaning to them, but let’s be honest some just happen and they work for me.  The way I work, the effort I put in, the layer upon layer I spread out, the piece is almost like shaping clay, wood, or stone…I stay at it until it looks and feels the way I want it.  I am so sure that when I created that Curious George cover so many years ago I felt the same way I do today…QUICK LET  ME DO ANOTHER!

This is my gallery to share with you, my hope is that something will catch your eye…I appreciate the time you took regardless.

    • Thanks for your kind words, it is truly amazing that tech today allows people from different places and lands to share. If only world politics were so easy…thanks again!

  2. Ken, your art is great and I really like how you describe it! BTW, I see that you mentioned Topeka… are you the same Ken Knieling that went to Shawnee Heights? If so, I remember knowing you the summer before I moved to Dallas (1976). Small world??

  3. Hello ken!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Truly appreciate it. I really enjoyed reading about your past experiences with art and looking through your posts; can’t wait to see more! 🙂

  4. Hi Ken, thanks for visiting and following my blog! I’ve had a brief look around yours, and am looking forward to seeing more (when I’m more awake, it’s late here!). Love your colours and textures!

  5. Hi Ken, nice to meet you. I think your art is beautiful! I painted for many years and my work was also abstract. I love the play of colour and form. Now that I’ve switched to photography it’s always colour that attracts me to photograph something (unless it’s purely something illustrative for the blog). I can’t imaging photographing in black and white. Do you have an online gallery somewhere?
Thanks for visiting our blog and for following. I hope you enjoy the stories of our journey, both inner and outer.
    Cheers
    Alison

    • Thanks Don & Alison,
Enjoyed your salt flats adventure and loved the pictures, really makes the story complete. You two really make it look so enjoyable, and i sure it was.
Don’t have an official gallery , but my blog or kenknieling.com has most everything I have completed in the past few years on display. What i haven’t sold thru a local gallery I have sold via email (kpknieling@gmail.com) with fans of my work.
Regardless, thanks for stopping by and especially for the comments.
      Sincerely,
      Ken Knieling

  6. Ken, I really want to thank you for following my haiku blog “Randa Lane…”
I will never be an artist with canvas and oils or any other “solid materials” such as you use. My art is in the creation of images with a few short words. But I am so impressed with your art and your outstanding site, that I now follow you and the magnificent artistry displayed there. Best of luck and continued success, Ken.

  7. Hi Ken, Thank you for following my sometimes humorous blog…love your work, and am now following yours. I’m also rediscovering a love of collage artwork. Call me a late bloomer, but it’s fun! Can’t wait to spend some time enjoying your beautiful work. 🙂

  8. It’s great to have found your blog thank you for following, hopefully I will be posting up some art I’m working on for you – Martyn

  9. Hi Ken, I admire your work. Your art is adorable. I think you should continue working on this creative and artistic endeavor- of sorry, you’re from England, so ‘endeavour’ it is.

I thank you for following my blog: subhanzein.wordpress.com I hope you benefit from what I post there every Saturday. Alright, Ken, see you some other time, blessings and love to you ♥

  10. Thanks for following my blog, and happy new year! Unlike you, I am not an artist, but I do love to celebrate what I see and enjoy. Blogs give us such a good means for sharing with others.

  11. Oh, I love your work!!! So colourful and beautiful! Reminds me of the veil paintings I used to do and which I’d really like to work on again. Maybe one day. In the meantime, I focus on my photography and writing, and I thank you for stopping by “Eyes to Heart” and following my journey. Be well and Happy New Year!!! … Dorothy 🙂

    • Everyone has an artistic eye of sorts, where we may disappoint ourselves is in the execution of our vision. Even then without encouragement or effort one may never what is possible…appreciate you being onboard…take care

      • Haha that’s amazing! Your site has inspired me to actually paint versus daydreaming about the day I have money/time to do so. Very inspiring! I like that you use various mediums too.

      • in my opinion the only way to go…it keeps your creative juices free to explore and discover…thank you for your comments and feedback…enjoy the trip, where ever it may lead you

  12. Hi Ken
Thanks for following. I’m a happy camper now you are joining me as I trip around by RV, plane, car and time machine to the past.
Comments, compliments, critiques and wisecracks are most welcome.
You have a great blog. “See” you again soon.
    Have a wonderful day.

  13. Thanks so much for following my blog, Oh, the Places We See. The joy of blogging is finding other blogs I like, and yours is one of those serendipitous encounters that brings me much pleasure! My favorite painting so far is “Frito Pie and My Saddle Oxfords.” It’s the softness of color and the simplicity of it. Looking forward to more! http://ohtheplaceswesee.com

    • Thank You Rusha, and you are so right about finding other blogs, the internet can do so much more than governments can to bring people, ideas, and hope together…thank you again for your comments… Ken

  14. Thank you for following my blog. I’m glad you found it, because otherwise I might not have found you. I very much like most of the work on your site. Wonderful abstracts. I especially like the window-cleaner one…beautiful minimalism!

  15. I absolutely love your work! when I saw that you followed me, I clicked on your blog and recognized some of your works, I realized I’d been here before. I remember now, I came across your blog a few years ago (maybe about a year ago) (before i had started my own blog) when I was doing research for a school art project. Inspiring work! Thanks for the follow! I appreciate it.

  16. Hi Ken, Thank you for reading and liking an following my blog. I have enjoyed learning about you. I pray that you will enjoy more as I am sure that I am going to truly enjoy your work. Thanks again for stopping by my blog page and liking it. 🙂

  17. Good day Mr.Ken, I like your artworks. I really do. Some of my favorites: the 6th finger (the art is very clean, bold colors and the sun is perfectly shaded), Down 4 Repairs (totally different from all your other works). I’m a fan. 🙂 Have a wonderful day.

    • Thank you very much, especially for the feedback…just so you know the down for repairs is a photo i took while visiting the Nelson Art gallery in Kansas City (my first art photo i have shared)…The fun part I saw a few of my favorite artist and took about a dozen pictures, but the real neat part was the building and the way light was hitting the architecture inside, i took about 70 pics of that.

  18. Thank you for visiting and following my blog – it’s how I found yours! Your work really speaks to me and your history resonates with me as well. My educational background is in architectural design and I too, love lots of color. Your style is wonderful and I’m sure I’ll be spending many a happy hour here as I spend time with each of your posts.

  19. Hi Ken love your shoe artwork. I have been teaching a shoe project in 8th grade for about 5 years and trying out different mediums. Have any pointers on what works best and how to get them going? I would appreciate any tips you have…these are aspiring 13-14 year olds 🙂 Thanks Renee

    • Renee
I have tried several different things always concerned about whether the colors would bleed or fade. The last few shoes I did were with Marv and Sharpie fabric markers… i had to sneak in some diluted acrylic paint to get my whites though. Even using these I finished with several coats of spray acrylic finish/matte to protect them, just in case. I can truly say i have washed a few which show no bleed or fade vs. my early versions that were just permanent markers and acrylic finish…which can work but may be more faded with time than fabric markers or acrylic paint. As you paint (with marker or paint)You want to soak the fabric with whatever medium you use to get the intense long lasting color … but if using acrylic it must be thin enough to soak in but not bleed, not so thick you can peel it off (seeing the fabric’s texture and no bleed is a good rule of thumb for the proper thickness.)
Pack the shoes with old socks or newspapers to maintain shape during the process, especially when spraying with finish. I found that they start out very stiff after they are finished but soften up nicely once worn a few times. Cleaning any good art shoe should be a damp rag wipe…it is art after all on canvas shoes not cross-country hikers.
As to tips on getting that age group started…have a few pics or actual examples for them to see, normally with current teen type likes on them. I personally want my shoes to either be a stand alone artist statement or ( and i prefer this) something that connects to that individual/wearer. My sister has a pair where i did things relating to her career/fire fighting and her animals/pets plus home state and travels.
As to making it an assignment/task… i will share with you my process, apply as you see fit.
Write down things that relate to the wearer anything special about them or a theme they like…on a piece of paper showing these views draw top, left and right sides, and back/heel , sketch your ideas out, do several until you like what ya see…once ideas fleshed out on paper lightly transfer them on your packed shoe with pencil…pick your colors/mediums and have at it,as some mediums need to dry before placing others next to them, use a hair dryer if needed.
Hope this helps…if you have questions you can email me at ken_knieling@hotmail.com

  20. Thanks for following my blog! Your work is great and is also wonderful to pass that down to your son! I’M sure its great when you both are showing work together!!! Looking forward to seeing more and being inspired…

  22. Thank you so very much for following my blog and reading my posts. Your art is wonderful! From the very first home page, there was so much color that I did not know where to look first.

  23. Hello Ken,
    🙂
You’re very talented and I love colour too. Especially the bright vibrant colours.
Thanks for the follow on my blog. Have a great week ahead. Hugs from Down Under. Paula xxx

  24. You’ve got a fan here sir. I always wanted to be a fine arts students but I never had a chance, I just draw whenever time permits me and if I have good materials available. Thanks for sharing your art pieces here in your blog, I was really inspired!

  26. Ken,
If I mailed you some canvas sneakers would you use my photography as inspiration and paint me some shoes? Your about picture is a tease – they are wonderful! I’d love a pair of deck shoes on my trip on the schooner for next year. You set your price for the art . . .

Also love your work. Reminds me a bit of Franz Marc who is a favorite of mine. I am artist too so relate to your story. Thanks for visiting my blog.
    Jeanne

  27. Delightful! Since you like whimsey, you may enjoy the post I am releasing this Sunday. It will feature both a local artist and a local poet.
Thank you for choosing to follow one of my blogs. I do hope you continue to enjoy the posts.

    • I am flattered…the shoes were the kick start 3 years ago or so that got me back into art…at present i don’t do shoes…was going to have people buy the shoes and go from there but it didn’t happen, sorry…but if the urge to go again starts up i have your email…thanks again

  28. Hi Ken, love your site, and your art.

Thank you for following “Beyond The Cracked Window” it is truly appreciated.

    Stephen.

  29. Thank you for following my blog Ken. That is so awesome that people, who do arts, try to keep together, being inspired from one another!

  30. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Your work is lovely.. I started painting February 2013, and I feel awesome everytime I sit down to paint, and that would be atleast one everyday. I love taking inspiration from other artists and art bloggers, and you are one of them.

  31. thanks for the follow! i too am an aspiring artist (although with five children running around the house it is sometimes difficult to find the time or space to create) and i look forward to seeing your work! God bless!

  32. Gracias por tu visita Ken , disfrute leyendo tu sitio, tenemos muchos puntos en común, entre ellos somos un poco eclécticos, me encanta tu aproche y tu obra, felicitaciones

  33. Thank you Ken fro following! Please be aware it’s a bilingual blog, so ignore the notices about poems with Italian text… I’m trying to keep the post balance 🙂

  34. Hi Ken! I’ve given you the One Lovely Blog Award because your blog is a joy to my eye. I love your colors and the way you share your creative process and hope that your art cave is back to functioning soon. 35. Hi Ken, Thank you for following my photography blog. I hope you are inspired. I am enjoying looking at your pieces- especially drawn to the geometrics and your use of color. Keep on creating!

  36. Remarkable about.Unique art form.Thank you for taking the time to follow my website.wishing you all the best.jalal

  37. Hey Ken, thanks for the follow. I really enjoy the artwork–found myself staring at your crane (or stork?) for a few minutes, haha.

  38. Stopped by a week or so ago when you followed my blog, and I had to come back to show my husband! He recently took an art class in college, and was griping about how modern art these days is a lot of crap. I showed him your site to prove him wrong. He loves your “scenic” pieces such as “Nude Bathing by Moonlight” and I LOVE “The Other Side.” I’ve only been in one gallery for my photography, and it was at the library. It was both a rewarding and nerve-wracking experience! I would like to write about your work, if you don’t mind, and I’ll post links back to your blog. I feel like I HAVE to share this awesome artwork! Keep it up! The world needs more people like you.

    • i am truly flattered by your offer and i am pleased i could help your husband appreciate what abstract art can offer to a viewer. Artists live for the chance to share their efforts with people that can appreciate art…with that said i would embrace your efforts to get others to see my works. Thanks again, Ken

    • I try but it is what it is sometimes, I only share the ones i like tho… 😉 …well ok, it is about 80-90% of what I have done so far…I am on a good streak 🙂

  39. Ken, so glad you stopped by my blog, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have had the pleasure to run across your work. I really enjoy and admire the diversity of, subjects, styles and media that you so skillfully employ. Also, as I noted in a different comment, you really are quite a talented writer and storyteller. I will no doubt be returning to your blog for further inspiration! Peace, Tom

    • My mind races when my creativity is switched on and this when I tend to wander with my art, although i manage to stay mostly in abstract themes. I learning to surf the net long ago and have really enjoyed surfing WordPress and finding talented people like yourself willing to share…I had to think about it for at least 2 years before i told the plunge…till later Tom

  40. This is just wonderful! Staring 50 in the eye, and trying to reinvent myself gives me so much appreciation for your story! I’m so happy for you that you’ve reignited your passion for such a wonderful skill that brings you joy and pleasure. Most of all thank you for visiting my blog so I could find yours! I look forward to seeing more of your work!

  41. Dear Ken,
Many thanks for liking my post of my drawing of a girl on a swing. And for following my blog! Your art is skilled and very beautiful. I like your writing style as well! Looking forward to more : )

    • Greatly appreciate your reflection about my art…and you appreciation for my writing is even more appreciated, since that is an area i claim little to no skill at, just speak from my mind and hope the words match my thoughts…should have seen my grades in school for English 🙂

    • I don’t think it is i am past that stage, i have only been doing this for just over 13 months…I just have never done them, the acknowledgement from a peer is enough and very greatly appreciated. I try not to offend anyone that believes in them for blogs and i hope i didn’t offend you…comments and feedback is my award/reward.

    • Short of a lottery award…just kidding…I appreciate you liking my blog enough to think about it and award in same breath, but I can’t accept at this time…hope you will understand…thanks again.

  42. Thanks for inviting me – your work is fantastic! Love those ink lines (envious I am) – I haven’t read your whole blog yet. I just love your concepts and compositions. Great stuff. So nice to have an artist Word press friend 🙂

  43. This blog is absolutely stunning. Not only because of the incredible quantity of diferent works, also because of its unbelievable variety of different styles and techniques and most of all because of the perfect quality of your pictures. Wonderful pieces of art. Best regards from Munich and many thanks for following macingosh photography

    • The photos are a hard endeavor for me but i seem to be getting better as time rolls on, reflective light is still a nagging issue tho,,,nice to see someone reflect on the fact i use different styles ( my likes of artists and works is very eclectic )…I like to think another factor has to do with whatever medium i use, as i let the medium direct me at times…past that my studies in school were about doing all sorts of different mediums and styles, handy if one was going to become a teacher…i also find my mind wanders when the creative process takes hold, hard for me to do the next piece in the same style or medium…although i have found i get pretty good results ( check out reflective water series or bubble trees) when i do, guess i lack the hard-nose discipline …lol

  44. Thank you very much for the follow.

Your work is beautiful. Over the past couple of years my appreciation for abstract art has grown and the vibrancy of yours makes me smile. I am going to enjoy looking through more of your posts.

  45. Thank you for following, sir!
I really enjoy your content; looking back, I never remember understanding abstract expressionism until I’d been drawing for a while.
These days, it’s hard for me not to think of it as the most macho of art styles, after reading about the New York scene way back when.
I wonder how Paul Klee would feel about being regarded as manly?

  46. Wow your so talented and so many follow, comment and like your work.. Thank you for liking my post 🙂 it means a lot.. In my 40’s now and really starting so I count it an honour that you’d even notice..

    • We all be bloggers and artists and writers and photographers alike on this wonderful wordpress…i am just as honored to have you like and comment, great job getting starting.

  47. Thanks for the follow. I am impressed with your work. I will come back every so often to take a look. You have a lot of work for just “one look” thing. Need to come back. Have a great time and keep it up!

  48. Remarkable Drawings! I love art! Your abstract works are inspiring. I love abstract because it takes a special kind of person to see the world in a such creative way. Oh and thanks for the follow!

  49. Thank you for liking my latest post and for following my blog. I think it’s wonderful that you are so enthusiastic about color and creating art! Just reading your About page encourages me to continue searching for that heart-stopping, breath-taking combination of color, line and composition.

Thanks so much for visiting and following my blog – I want to write more about color, since my post The Color of Shame seemed to resonate with so many people. Perhaps I can get inspiration on your blog!

  57. Hi, Thanks first of all for visiting my blog, but I just shared one of your pieces on my FB, the squares….I adored it. I’m currently looking for guest posts to share the love a bit was wondering if you would share this piece and maybe a post you’ve already done or a new one. I would of course include all your information etc.

It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if you perhaps put my blog on your Facebook, but that’s not why I’m doing this. I want to get talented artist out there into the universe and be a part of that.

  70. Unquestionably consider that which you stated. Your favourite justification appeared to be at the internet the easiest thing to consider of.
I say to you, I certainly get annoyed at the same
time as other folks think about concerns that they plainly don’t recognise about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thank you

  79. Thanks for stopping by my blog and becoming a follower. I appreciate the encouragement as I start out on my new art career path. Your art is great. I will enjoy following your blog as well!

  80. I don’t know what’s better, your wonderful artwork or the clever titles you give them (and this is from a guy who has had to come up with a clever title and caption for my photoblog every weekday for over 2 years–600 posts to date). THANKS for subscribing to my “pun-ny” photoblog and for leaving a “like.” I hope I can bring you a smile (or at least a groan) every weekday!

  81. Hi Ken! It’s only now that I was able to go around your blog and I am truly impressed by your artworks. Regards!~JJ

  83. Fantastic artwork throughout the blog, Ken! Thanks for stopping by and liking my most recent post, very much appreciated. Opinions and criticism are always welcome. Best of luck to you and take care.
    Dylan

    • You have been a long time follower of my site and I greatly appreciate that and the fact you would honor me with this award…however i must decline, as recognition from follows & likes and especially comments is award enough for me…hope you will understand…thks again

    • I appreciate your comments, but in all fairness the two galleries i have been in are local, which in most areas is easier if you know some of the art community…past that I haven’t taken to the road yet , except for this wonderful experience here…which has been keeping me grounded and fired up to create more.

  84. I know I’m really late at this and I’m sorry, but thank you for showing interest in my blog. You were one of the first to show up and that was back when I had my crappy computer. Everything wasn’t working so swell. Now that I have a new computer, I’ve been busy updating as much as I can. Anyway, again thank you and now that I have had a chance to check out your blog – I love it! 🙂

  85. Thanks for the kind words about Raggedy Ann and Andy. Your work seems to have the whimsy of Klee, but plenty of ideas right off the top of your head or in the case of last painting fingers! Hope you find new avenues to explore, Carolyn Wagenseller

  86. Wow – I was just looking at your artwork, and God has really given you an awesome gift! I’m truly honored that you are following my blog. I really love all of the colors – truly beautiful.

    Many blessings to you,
    Cheryl

  87. Hello I would like to say that I am enjoying your work. It is so bright and wonderful and I will be keeping up with the work that you are doing.

  88. Hi Ken,
Thanks for the add. I haven’t tried to push my work until recently because I’ve just been working like crazy. But it looks like you have the right approach and a lot of content. Fellow artist unite!

  89. Thanks for taking a look at my blog. I have enjoyed looking at your work too and am smiling at the “quick let me do another” comment ! It’s nice to hear about someone else who has reached a similar stage of life where we are having fun with our art again. Good luck with your shows and another year of art!

  90. I enjoyed viewing your art and had to smile as I read your about and found you are rediscovering how fun it is to create again. It feels like a reward to get back involved in art projects again! Have fun and good luck with your shows.

  91. Thank you for the like to one of my posts and the follow as well ^^

I love your works. The detail and colour is beautiful, and you have a great way of using materials and mediums. Looking forward to seeing more : )

  92. Hi Ken
I noticed you found my blog, so thank you, and I thought I would check yours out. Very interesting work – in addition to writing, I paint as well (have a blog-in-training similar to yorus for the art. Some of your pieces I really like and I collect art that appeals to me – do you sell any of your work?
    Thanks
    Eytan

    • We just had a local Artprowl and that was the first time i had posted prices on my works…I am thinking about getting a gallery site that shows prices, but with holidays i have that on the back burner … if there is a piece or two you are interested in shot me an e-mail kenknieling@gmail.com and i will reply. Using the Artprowl as a gauge I have priced my pieces from 250 – 600 dollars so far. I real appreciate the comment for two reasons…1) you are the first to ask me about if I sell.THANK YOU…2) this might help light a fire under me to get the other site going faster. another THANK YOU

  93. Thank you for following poemsandponderings.wordpress.com. I am looking forward to hearing your comments on the “stuff” I put out for publication. I am also looking forward to seeing your art as well.. Thanks again,
    Jake.

  99. Nice to see that you have several bodies of work but that they aren’t all jumbled together as is so often the case. Often wished my drafting skills were stronger (as in architectural perspective) but have always been too lazy to actually study the process. Most of the “how-to” articles I’ve seen on the topic have been at best less than helpful…not to mention confusing. Probably why I stick to landscapes (who knows what Mother Nature really intended that tree to look like?) and animals. Thanks for following my blog–hope you continue to find it entertaining.

  100. Thanks for the follow over on my blog. I’ve been looking through your work here and am enchanted with it. As I delve a little deeper into photography, I feel pulled into the artists that I find here on WordPress. And I love your love of color!

  101. What a wonderful backstory you have, Ken. Your story illustrates that it is never too late to follow your dreams and passions. Good for you! Your work is beautiful—clearly you are very talented! I’m looking forward to taking a closer look around.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and for the “follow.”

  102. Hello how are you , I do love your art..easy to say yes I know but I shall be back to look at it more closely as soon as time allows. I am grateful that you dropped by and like my post. I have always wished I could paint but some gifts are not given willynilly to everyone. Keep well and happy and keep painting!

  103. I love your choice of colors and your designs! Just beautiful!

Thank you for signing up to follow my blog! I hope that you find it fun, entertaining, and that my photos might inspire a painting or two! Barb

  104. Hi Ken, nice to meet you and thank you for your Follow at art rat cafe – I am honoured. I’ve seen your art at Destructivetesting but look forward to exploring your site in more depth. Reading about your life is interesting and inspiring – you are amongst the few who know how to live fully and creatively…

  105. Thank you so much for liking my post “Measuring for precision” and following my blog “Diary of an art student” Ken! Looking forward to checking out your gallery as well 🙂
    Love, Light, and Laughter, Always,
    Ingrid

  107. Came by to thank you for “like” on my post “Feels like Home- To tunes of the 60’s & 70’s”. I do regular postings there as well as my own blog Barefoot Baroness. Hope to see more of you at both ~ BB

      • Wow thank you. There are so many ideas, interests and footage that either in my head or at my fingertips.
I love to help others in anyway possible and if I achieve that by my blog I guess I have achieved it 🙂 but I won’t stop… Lol

  108. Thank you for stopping by and “liking” my post on Recycled Art! I hope you come back and check out more of my posts in the future! I will definetly be coming back from time to time to “snoop” yours! 🙂

  109. I don’t know that I have ever enjoyed an online gallery as much as I have enjoyed yours. Your work not only appeals to me, it seems as though it speaks to me; it draws me in and I love it. Thank you so much for your approval on my posted vintage camper Pinterest list on my blog. I am so happy to have found your blog. You have a follower and a true fan in me.

    ~Kate

  110. Ken, very impressive images – you have abundant talent! I could never create beauty manually like this – I have to get the camera do it for me! Thanks very much for following my blog, I hope you’ll enjoy the content. FATman

  111. Hi Ken…Just finally able to offer up a belated thanks for your “like” of my post “Going Once, Going Twice…” at yourdaddid.com. Always appreciate the likes, comment and feedback…Your work looks pretty good, too.

    All the best,
    Rex

  112. Ken, came to your site as a result you deciding to follow Learning from Dogs and so glad i did! Lots to drool over. Anyway, a big ‘thank you’ for subscribing and please feel free to drop me a guest post at anytime talking about some aspect of your art! Paul

  113. Whew! I really love your blog. During my high school years, I am a Visual Art Student under the curriculum Special Program for the Arts. But I admit, I cannot do something like these. Our teacher would only love me because of my competitive grades in art theories, history, etc…but never on hands-on aspect. 😉

    • Thanks for taking the time to comment. The techniques others use for their art can be mastered with practice, practice, practice over time. However the art itself comes from the heart and mind of the artist, that is very hard to duplicate, but we all have that potential I believe…if we have the desire.

    • Thank you very much, means a lot Brian. They only had room to show 9 at a time…that being said i will rotate the stock every 3 weeks so people can see a wider selection of my works.

  114. Hi Ken, I wanted you to know that you are the Artist of the Day on my blog:

    http://destructivetesting.wordpress.com/2012/06/22/artist-of-the-day

Please let me know if you would like me to add or change anything.

The main purpose of the blog is to share the ‘Artistic Process’. What and where artists do what they do to create their art.

I’d appreciate it if you would consider sending me some photos for my ‘Work Spaces’ and/or ‘Making It’ categories.

Please send any photos to mfsmith46@gmail.com.

And, of course, I’d like you to share this with anyone who might be interested.

I have received messages like the following:
Darcy commented on Artist of the Day / Sandy Martinez
“Thanks for allowing us to know a bit more about the artist.”

    thanks, Mike

  115. Thanks for visiting my blog, Ken 🙂

I absolutely love your work! It’s amazing how soft and evocative your pieces are when you’re using such geometric shapes. So much movement too. And you use light beautifully. I’m glad to have “met” you!

    Tara

    • Thank you Tara for your words of encouragement and your insight-fulness to my ART…I also enjoyed looking around your blog you have a gift for making pages look better.

  116. Your art and blog are just fantastic! I’m going to share it on our FB page 🙂 Thanks for visiting and liking my blog 🙂

  117. Thanks for liking my post. I also took up art later in life. It was always with me from childhood but now I have a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art, I make collage, digital, draw, paint and like you mixed media work.

  118. Thanks for reading my work-I will follow your blog and hope you will follow mine as well. I have done a lot of nature photography, unfortunately, most of it is on film/negatives. Do you know a good (and inexpensive) way to get the negatives transferred to cd?

    • If you have access to one, shops that still process film offer that type of transfer service, normally reasonable…or you might find someone on the internet that does it as a home business, get reviews first…these are your treasures after all.

  119. Thank you for liking my recent post and deciding to follow! I am so glad that I found yours as I really like your abstract art and will be following your blog. I too thought the river parade on the Thames was so moving and wished I could have been back to view it. Thank goodness for CNN!

  120. Thanks for liking my post! I really like your work here. I can see the architectural influences with the lines and control, like you said. Good stuff!

  121. Hi Ken,
Thanks for liking my post! I look forward to seeing more of your art, very interesting stuff. Hope you’ve enjoyed your Jubilee weekend!
    Ben

    • You are welcome, amazing to be able to share with so many people, countries and cultures…as to the weekend, any and all weekends are special in my world…but I must say that watching that river parade down the Thames was once in a lifetime.

      • Were you at the River? We watched it here in Victoria, BC on TV and had a smile on our faces the whole time! What a show, you Brits sure know how to throw a party! I’m going to post some photos tonight of my trip to Britain as my “homage” to the weekend’s celebrations

      • Ah, haha! I see I guessed wrongly from your post about being on a British air base! Well, the television makes for a nicer, warmer viewing experience than what they had 🙂

    • Not sure what qualifies as a newbie on wordpress, i am just barely 2 months old, so thank you for becoming a follower…we will grow and learn blogging together.

  122. I really enjoy your work. Quite often I use other artist’s work for inspiration for my poems, feature them on my blog with credit and a link. May I use your work?

  123. Thanks for liking my blog following it. I love your art. I am just starting to realize the painter inside, but have done collage art my whole life. I look at painting as collage work, just a different medium. I love color too. Enjoying your blog!

  124. Hi Ken,
I want to thank you for stopping by my little blog and liking my post about the Worlds Largest Swimming Pool. I am enjoying looking at your art, I am a secret closeted artist. I look forward to see you again soon.

    Scott

  125. Hi Ken – I’m so glad you enjoyed my post and what a wonderful surprise when I followed the link to yours. I love your art and look forward to seeing more. Thank you for brightening my morning.

  126. Hi Ken….Thank you for liking my post. Love your style and use of colors. Vibrant colors are a personal favorite for me as well. Keep up the good work. All the best.

  127. Hello Ken, just to say thank you for stopping by and liking my blog, I love what I’ve seen so far of your art and look forward to seeing future pieces! All the best, Liz
